- On Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026, the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court in Hamburg convicted seven members and one supporter of the far-right terrorist group Last Defense Wave on charges including attempted murder, arson, and aggravated assault.

- During an October 2024 arson attack in Altdöbern, Brandenburg, the group destroyed a cultural center; in January 2024, two members unsuccessfully attempted to ignite an asylum seeker shelter in Schmölln, Thuringia, using pyrotechnics.
- An additional planned arson attack in Senftenberg, Brandenburg, was prevented due to tips from a reporting team, and authorities detained two more teenagers in Thuringia during June for alleged membership in the group.
- Wednesday's rulings remain subject to appeal; the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court suspended the one and a half year sentence for the youngest defendant, according to German news agency dpa.
