Teen's match-winner keeps New England rolling, Atlanta sliding
Matt Turner made 8 saves as New England erased a deficit and won its fourth straight, while Atlanta United dropped its fourth in a row.
On Wednesday, the New England Revolution defeated Atlanta United 2-1 before 30,306 fans at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, with Peyton Miller and Will Sands scoring for the visitors.
Atlanta United manager Gerardo Martino sought the team to be "emotionally superior" entering the match, yet the club's record fell to 1-7-1 with the worst goal differential in MLS at minus-20.
Fafà Picault opened scoring for Atlanta in the 38th minute, but goalkeeper Matt Turner made 8 saves anchoring New England's defense. Sands tied it in the 73rd minute before Miller's 78th-minute winner.
The Revolution extended their winning streak to four consecutive victories and five of their last six matches. Conversely, Atlanta remains winless in five straight games during Martino's return this season.
Consecutive road matches await Atlanta at Toronto and Charlotte on April 25 and April 28, with the team returning home in May to host CF Montreal and the LA Galaxy.
