Teenager dies after being 'injured by fallen tree'
Police said emergency crews could not save the boy after the fallen-tree incident, and a cordon remains while enquiries continue.
On Saturday, May 2, 2026, a teenage boy died after being "injured by a fallen tree" on Holmcroft Road in Stafford.
Staffordshire Police, West Midlands Ambulance Service, and Midlands Air Ambulance responded at 6:30pm, but the boy was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 7:30pm.
A large police cordon remains in place on Holmcroft Road, with officers advising the public to avoid the area while enquiries continue.
The boy's next of kin have been informed, and the Stafford & District Sunday Football League Facebook page announced all Sunday fixtures will observe a one-minute silence.
St Bertelin's Church Stafford offered prayers "for the young man, for his family, and for all who knew and who loved him," remaining open for community tributes.
