Teen Loses Hand as France's School Protests Erupt With More Than 5,000 Arrested and Hundreds Injured
A 15-year-old student lost his hand during clashes with police in northern France, as nationwide school protests over staffing, school hours and crumbling infrastructure escalated.
Among the victims are 715 members of the security forces, 215 students and 85 teachers.
More than 6,000 people have been arrested since the start of the wave of protests in France, which culminated in a "Day of Rage" in which tens of thousands of students and parents marched in many cities across the country. Clashes were recorded between protesters and police who used tear gas.
Almost two thousand secondary schools are blocked and the clashes between the police are multiplying, which should be the last day of demonstrations in France.
A 15-year-old kid lost his brush after a police grenade exploded during a protest by high school students in French Lance, an incident reported by BFMTV, the circumstances of which are now being established by the IGPN Police Inspectorate.
