1 killed, 3 others shot after a high school graduation ceremony in Northern California
Police said no suspect is in custody as detectives interview witnesses and follow leads after the graduation ceremony shooting.
On Wednesday evening, a shooting following the Sem Yeto High School graduation ceremony at Fairfield High School left one person dead and three others injured, the Fairfield Police Department confirmed.
The violence erupted in the parking lot at 205 E. Atlantic Avenue after the ceremony concluded at Schafer Stadium, where attendees were taking pictures.
Amanda Prieto, who lives next to the school, heard "rapid fire" while in her backyard and witnessed people screaming and running through the parking lot.
Ilana Israel Samuels, executive director of communications for the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District, stated that law enforcement is on campus conducting an active investigation.
Detectives are interviewing witnesses and following leads, though no suspect description has been released; anyone with information should contact the Fairfield Police Department at 428-7300.
