Major Fashion Retailer Returns to UK High Street 2 Years After Administration
Authentic Brands Group plans the comeback under Ted Baker Tailored as the label seeks to rebuild its UK presence after closing all 46 branches in 2024.
On Thursday, Authentic Brands Group announced it will open a standalone 'Ted Baker Tailored' outlet in the City of London, marking the first new British store for the fashion brand in years.
The brand was delisted from the London stock market in 2022 after Authentic Brands Group acquired it for approximately £210 million, following significant challenges that led to closure of all 46 branches in 2024.
Henry Stupp, president of lifestyle for Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India at Authentic, told Sky News, 'London is the natural place to begin, and we see this opening as a defining step in the brand's next chapter.'
While the high street faced a difficult year with closures at River Island and Poundland, brands including Topshop and Laura Ashley returned to physical stores in 2026, signaling a potential shift for retail.
Authentic aims to reinvigorate Ted Baker in its home market by focusing on British heritage, using this new store launch to test efforts to evolve the label for today's consumer while maintaining its established reputation.
