Calgary-Based TC Energy Strikes $560M Deal to Sell Mexican Natural Gas Pipeline
The sale will generate about $560 million in cash proceeds and let TC Energy redeploy capital toward growth opportunities, the company said.
On Monday, TC Energy announced an agreement to sell Energía Occidente de México , the entity owning the Guadalajara-Manzanillo Pipeline, to ESENTIA Energy Development affiliates for $560 million.
With more than 30 years of history in Mexico, TC Energy remains the largest Canadian investor in the country, positioning this portfolio optimization sale within its long-term strategic focus.
The 313-kilometre pipeline transports up to 500 MMcf/d of natural gas to power plants and industrial customers in Colima and Jalisco. President and Chief Executive Officer François Poirier said the transaction supports "disciplined capital allocation strategy."
Anticipated to close in the first half of 2027, the deal remains subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. TC Energy and ESENTIA will collaborate to ensure a safe and orderly transition of operations.
Following the transaction close, TC Energy will maintain its broader Mexico natural gas pipeline network, retaining approximately 3,300 kilometres of pipeline and 8.7 Bcf/d of installed transportation capacity across the region.
