Taylor Jenkins Named Head Coach of the Milwaukee Bucks in 'Full Circle' Return
Bucks co-owner Jimmy Haslem said the team wants clarity on Giannis Antetokounmpo's future before the NBA Draft, after hiring Taylor Jenkins as coach.
On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, the Milwaukee Bucks introduced Taylor Jenkins as the 19th head coach in franchise history at the Milwaukee Art Museum, following his tenure leading the Memphis Grizzlies to three playoff appearances.
Following a disappointing 32-50 campaign that snapped nine consecutive playoff appearances, the Bucks replaced Doc Rivers, who compiled a 97-103 record during his tenure with the organization.
Franchise star Giannis Antetokounmpo has spent his entire 13-year career with Milwaukee and holds two years plus $121.2 million remaining on his contract, including a $62.7 million player option next summer.
Bucks co-owner Jimmy Haslam announced the team aims to resolve Antetokounmpo's future within the next six or seven weeks ahead of the June 23 NBA Draft, determining whether to pursue a contract extension or trade.
Jenkins said he "wants to build a championship caliber team" and has already communicated with Antetokounmpo, emphasizing that relationships are most important to him as he establishes the roster's identity.
