Germany is now the country of the tankers: Will the discount be passed on well? The basic error is a completely different one.
The fuel discount should make fuel cheaper in Germany. The NZZ tracker shows daily how much of it arrives at the pumps – and what diesel and super currently costs.
According to an investigation, the fuel discount is only a fraction of the fuel supply. Transport Minister Schnieder does not rule out extending the billion-dollar tax rebate.
The companies only partially pass on the tax reduction to drivers – as in 2022. The state loses hundreds of millions of euros. The government has no lever against it.
By 17 cents, the price of petrol and diesel was supposed to fall, but depending on the time of day, only 29 to 62 percent of it is received by drivers.
