- Explaining the move, Vijay noted the current infrastructure is overcrowded with more than 6,000 employees across over 30 departments, while the state controls only four acres of the 107-acre Fort campus, limiting expansion.
- The proposed project will span 20 lakh square feet, integrating all government departments into a modern, eco-friendly facility featuring advanced safety systems and accessibility features to ensure efficient, world-class administration.
- Making further announcements under Rule 110, the Chief Minister said the government would also establish Tamil Nadu Olympic City and Motor Sports City in Chennai to boost sports tourism and infrastructure.
- While previous regimes, including the Karunanidhi-led DMK, attempted to shift administrative offices, this plan prioritizes preservation; historic buildings within the Fort will remain protected as heritage sites for future generations.
