Republicans Fret as Talarico Bombards Airwaves and Paxton Awaits Trump Team’s Cash
The 30-second spot attacks Paxton over his 2023 impeachment and his rising net worth while Talarico has spent nearly $29 million on ads.
On Saturday, State Representative James Talarico unveiled his first negative television ad against Attorney General Ken Paxton, characterizing him as "the most corrupt politician in Texas."
Since June, Talarico has spent about $31.3 million on advertising to introduce himself, while Paxton's campaign has spent just over $150,000, giving Democrats dominance over the airwaves.
Paxton senior advisor Nick Maddux dismissed the ad as "debunked insider attacks" intended to distract from Talarico's "far-left record" on taxes and social issues.
Pro-Paxton groups have countered with their own ad blitz, including a $800,000 campaign targeting Talarico over his 2025 vote against a bill banning land sales to certain foreign entities.
With Talarico holding a narrow lead in polls, President Donald Trump is increasing his involvement in Texas, headlining a Thursday fundraiser to boost Paxton's campaign in this pivotal Senate race.
