Syria no longer under UN nuclear watchdog probe

- IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi visited two sites last month, witnessing the unearthing of 73 tonnes of natural uranium metal and stating it was "obvious that the previous government was pursuing a number of clandestine" activities.
- Syria is no longer in non-compliance, though the resolution notes the country "remains bound" by the Nonproliferation Treaty and must "continue its cooperation with the Agency, including the excavation work" at the reactor site.
- The IAEA board "adopted by consensus" the resolution, which requests Grossi to update the board on the "outcomes of ongoing activities" as Syria works to clear past issues following the 2024 overthrow of Bashar Assad.
