At the 1993 Oscar ceremony, Susan Sarandon and her then partner Tim Robbins made a plea in favor of Haitian refugees when almost no one dared to make political speeches during the awards. They won the Academy’s condemnation and a threat of veto that has recently overflew the actress for her propalestine statements.
