At the 1993 Oscar ceremony, Susan Sarandon and her then partner Tim Robbins made a plea in favor of Haitian refugees when almost no one dared to make political speeches during the awards. They won the Academy’s condemnation and a threat of veto that has recently overflew the actress for her propalestine statements. Sarandon will, however, receive the Goya International on February 28 in part for “her courageous political and social commitment.”
On 28 February he will receive the Goya International 2026 in Barcelona, awarded by the Spanish Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences.
