The picture has changed: Almost two decades ago, Berlin was still regarded by many Germans as a fascinating metropolis – at least according to the survey. In the meantime, the capital seems to be considerably less popular.
No prejudices: a clear majority of Germans know Berlin – and much of it doesn't like it there. The city has experienced an economic upswing.
According to a new survey by the Allensbach Institute for Public Opinion Research, Berlin has lost much of its appeal for Germans. This was reported by the "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung" (Friday edition). The survey found that only 31 percent of respondents now agree that Berlin is a fascinating metropolis, while 36 percent consider it a capital city lacking charisma.
