Supreme Court restores Trump's mass voter verification system
- On Friday, the Supreme Court issued two election-related rulings, allowing states to use the Trump administration's revamped Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements database while rejecting a Missouri congressional map change.
- The Department of Homeland Security program, known as SAVE, aims to identify noncitizens to prevent election fraud. Since the administration expanded search capabilities last year, at least 67 million voter registrations have been scanned.
- Issuing a 6-3 emergency order, the high court lifted lower court restrictions on the database. Election law expert David Becker noted existing law blocks most states from systematically purging voter rolls within 90 days of an election.

- This decision ends the longest-running legal battle among roughly a dozen states. The ruling follows an earlier rejection of Trump's request to restrict mail ballot procedures, allowing states to proceed with normal processes this fall.
