Superdry co-founder James Holder jailed for raping woman
A jury found Holder guilty after the woman said he ignored her pleas to stop and forced oral sex during the encounter.
On Thursday, Bristol Crown Court sentenced Multi-millionaire James Holder to eight years in prison for raping a woman following a jury trial in Cirencester.
Holder attacked the woman in her Cheltenham home in the early hours of May 7, 2022, though he maintained throughout trial that any sexual activity was consensual.
During trial, the victim testified she was crying and begging Holder to stop; defence counsel Michelle Heeley suggested the assault lasted approximately 20 minutes, while Holder claimed it was 'evident what she wanted to happen.'
Superdry, co-founded by Holder and Julian Dunkerton in 2003, stated he held no position at the company during the offence; the brand operates more than 60 stores globally.
In her victim statement, the woman described the four-year toll of the assault, stating Holder acted as if 'entitled' and declaring, 'The weight of what happened should be yours to carry, not mine.
