Superdry co-founder James Holder guilty of rape
The former Superdry boss was also acquitted of assault by penetration and remanded in custody ahead of sentencing, court officials said.
A jury at Gloucester Crown Court found Superdry co-founder James Holder guilty of rape following a five-day trial in Cirencester, though he was acquitted of assault by penetration.
On May 6, 2022, in Cheltenham, Holder accompanied the victim home after a night out, where prosecutors alleged he fell asleep on her bed before waking and forcing her into the bedroom.
The victim testified she was crying and begging Holder to stop, while Holder insisted the encounter was consensual and that he 'stopped immediately' when she complained of discomfort.
Recorder David Chidgey remanded Holder into custody ahead of sentencing, stating the temptation to use his 'significant resources' to flee was 'too great' for bail to be granted.
Holder co-founded the British fashion brand Superdry in 2003 with Julian Dunkerton and previously appeared in The Sunday Times Rich List with an estimated fortune of around £199 million.
