More than 140,000 home batteries pushed 580 MW onto the California grid during a September heat wave, days before Gov. Gavin Newsom must decide the fate of a bill that would write distributed batteries into the state's resource adequacy rules.
Electricity was discharged from the batteries to the grid for three hours during the evening consumption peak.
