Stratford Festival Names Jonathan Church as Its Next Artistic Director

The Stratford Festival named Jonathan Church its next artistic director, signing him to an initial five-year term starting Nov. 1, 2026.
After Antoni Cimolino announced that 2026 will be his final season, Stratford Festival Board of Directors launched a global search to find his successor.
Church brings international repertory experience and Canadian ties as a dual Canadian-U.K. citizen who has directed more than 50 productions.
Timing positions Church to prepare the 2027 season, and he said in a statement released on Wednesday it is a huge honour to be appointed and work with the festival team.
Board chair David Adams praised Jonathan Church's rare combination of vision, experience and leadership, saying `His appointment marks a thrilling new chapter for Stratford`.
