MSCI’s proposed non-operating company screen could remove Strategy and Metaplanet from global indexes in November if adopted.
The index provider MSCI started a consultation on August 14, 2026 that would exclude non-operational companies from the Global Investable Market Indexes. Using the May 2026 figures, the test grid meets three companies: Strategy (MSTR), Metaplanet (3350) and the British uranium holding company Yellow Cake (YCA). All three fell out of the MSCI ACWI IMI.
