Stora Enso is closing down an entire production facility in Grums. Up to 80 people may have to leave. It has not been a secret that things have gone badly, but: “We didn't think they would close down,” says Johannes Boström.
Stora Enso is laying off 80 employees at Gruvön's sawmill in Grums. Håkan Johansson, club chairman of the GS union, received the first reactions from the employees on Monday. “They are shocked and saddened,” he says.
Stora Enso wants to close down the cross-laminated timber (CLT) production unit at the Granön sawmill and is initiating union negotiations involving approximately 220 employees, according to a press release.
Change negotiations on Gruvön's sawmill could lead to the layoffs of 80 employees.
