Drummond Says Additional Charges Possible After Tulsa Schools Audit
Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond says additional criminal charges are possible following the release of a forensic audit examining Tulsa Public Schools bond spending. The audit, released Tuesday by State Auditor and Inspector Cindy Byrd, follows an investigation that resulted in charges in June against former TPS administrator Chris Hudgins and two associates. “This audit confirms what our June charges already made clear: bond dollars meant to repair and improve Tulsa schools were instead treated as someone’s personal piggy bank,” Drummond said. “My office is reviewing the full audit now, and we are not finished. Additional charges are on the table.” Hudgins, Gayle Gwinup and Thomas McKenna currently face 27 counts involving allegations of conspiracy, embezzlement and kickbacks. All three are presumed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
