Stormgate Adding Offline Mode After Server Provider Ditches It For AI
Frost Giant says the game will be patched for offline play before multiplayer servers shut down at the end of April, after Hathora was acquired by Fireworks AI.
On Tuesday, March 31, Frost Giant Studios announced Stormgate will lose online multiplayer access after its server provider, Hathora, was acquired by Fireworks AI.
Hathora is winding down service following the Fireworks acquisition, creating a planned outage for the always-online game with support continuing through May 5, 2026.
Frost Giant says the game will be "patched so that it can be played offline," though the studio is not accepting Nitrado's GameFabric migration offer.
Online modes will be unavailable once servers wind down, though developers wrote, "We hope to restore online play in a future patch."
Aftermath reports Stormgate's peak concurrent player count has yet to break 100 this year, as the title remains a work in progress since its 2024 launch.
The real-time strategy game Stormgate loses the online multiplayer mode at the end of April. The reason for this is curious and related to an AI company.
