The 100 years of faith we celebrate this year began long before the building of the first Catholic Church in Rocky Mountain House. Between 1841-1875 Oblates arrived at the Hudson Bay Trading post in Rocky Mountain House and the first Mass was celebrated there on October 5, 1845, by Fr. Pierre-Jean De Smet, a Jesuit.
