Spain's tourism sector saw a 2.9% rise in August arrivals, reaching 22.3 million visitors over the summer, boosting economic growth despite local concerns over overtourism.

- Year-to-Date figures show almost 66.8 million foreign tourists visited Spain between January and August this year, with Spain's 2024 growth revised to 3.5%, the INE reported.
- Local residents and activists have said mass tourism is reshaping neighbourhoods and pushing up rents, sparking protests in Barcelona, Málaga, and the Balearic and Canary Islands.
