Spain has begun the construction of a tent camp in Ceuta, where up to 1500 refugees will be accommodated, who will no longer find a place in emergency shelters.
Authorities in the Spanish city of Ceuta began building temporary tents for 1,500 migrants on Tuesday, despite protests from some locals, according to the El Faro newspaper. Ceuta, located in northern Africa, was the site of a wave of migrants from Morocco that entered the enclave about three weeks ago. The vast majority have since left, but about 5,000 remain.
The Sánchez government opens four reception centres for 1500 migrants but the number of irregulars in the city remains very high. Conservative President Vivas breaks the conciliatory tones and accuses socialists of passivity alluding to the need to maintain good relations with Morocco
Minister Elma Saiz visited the enclave and met with local authorities. Madrid has already declared emergency and made EUR 6.5 million available for the crisis.
