SOUTHERN GLAZER'S WORKERS ACROSS LOUISIANA JOIN TEAMSTERS

Southern Glazer's Louisiana workers joined the Teamsters through a card check, covering facilities in Geismar, Kenner, Lafayette, Shreveport, and Monroe, with 183 employees represented by Locals 270 and 568.
Amid recent organizing, union officials note the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, founded 1903, with 1.3 million members, has grown during the past year.
Teamsters representatives pledged to pursue improved wages and benefits, with officials ready to hit the ground running for first contract negotiation, as Jeff Padellaro said, `These workers know that Teamsters representation is the path to good wages, benefits, and real job protections.`
The victory increases Teamsters representation at Southern Glazer's nationwide, with the addition of five new facilities the union now organizes 68 Southern Glazer's locations, Stephen Sorrell, President of Local 270, said.
Members said the union gives them a voice, and union leaders forecast continued organizing and growth, said Christopher Northern of Local 270.
