Austin Smotherman Wins in Utah for First PGA Tour Title
Smotherman earned a two-year PGA Tour exemption after finishing 26-under 258 and breaking the tournament 72-hole record.
On Sunday, American golfer Austin Smotherman claimed his maiden PGA Tour title at the Bank of Utah Championship, finishing 25-under at the Black Desert Resort for a two-stroke victory.
Smotherman outlasted final-group partner Doug Ghim, who shot 69 for second place, after rebounding from a double bogey on the 13th with key birdies down the stretch.
Achieving this breakthrough in his 100th career start, the 32-year-old broke the tournament's 72-hole record at the Black Desert Resort with a final-round 3-under 68.
The victory grants Smotherman a two-year exemption and moves him into the top 60 of the FedEx Fall, positioning him for $20 million signature events at Pebble Beach and Riviera next year.
Elsewhere, Adrian Meronk won the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship on Sunday with a 4-under 68, while Steven Alker secured the Jefferson Lehigh Valley Classic and Sandy Scott claimed the Compliance Solutions Championship.
