Smoke from B.C., U.S. wildfires triggers Fraser Valley air quality warning
Environment Canada urged residents to limit outdoor exposure as wildfire smoke kept particle levels elevated and health risks persisted across several Southern B.C. regions.
On Wednesday, Environment Canada issued another air quality warning for Southern B.C. due to lingering wildfire smoke, affecting the Eastern Fraser Valley, Coquihala Highway, Tulameen, Princeton, and South Okanagan.
Different people have different responses to smoke, and health risks persist even indoors; residents must Protect indoor air and stay aware of symptoms to minimize exposure.
Tips To Reduce Smoke Exposure include using a NIOSH-certified N95 respirator if outside or spending time in places with cleaner air such as a community Centre.
Always follow guidance from local authorities; for medical emergencies call 9-1-1, or contact a physician for severe symptoms, or call HealthLink at 8-1-1 if unsure about care.
Ashcroft, Kamloops, and the Okanagan remain unaffected at this time, while do-it-yourself air cleaners may be used if other options are unavailable.
