NTSB Investigating Georgia Plane Crash that Left 2 People Critically Injured
Two people were taken to the hospital in critical condition as federal investigators examine the cause of the small plane crash.
A small plane crashed Sunday near Elliott Field in Dawsonville, leaving two people in critical condition. Emergency personnel responded to the site near Highway 183 around noon.
Dawson County Fire Chief Troy Leist reported one occupant was found outside the aircraft upon arrival, while the second remained heavily entrapped inside the wrecked aircraft. Crews provided immediate care to both.
Emergency responders transported both victims to hospitals in critical condition, utilizing one ground ambulance and one air ambulance. Officials have not released the identities of those involved.
The Dawson County Sheriff's Office assigned the investigation to the National Transportation Safety Board. Federal investigators are now working to determine what caused the aircraft to crash.
Within 30 days, the National Transportation Safety Board expects to release a preliminary report on the crash. Authorities have not yet confirmed the specific cause.
