After Mayor Eric Adams withdrew from his re-election bid, Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa was next in line to withdraw. Even his boss, supermarket and media magnate John Catsimatidis, a longtime supporter of his party, reversed course. But until Tuesday (September 30), Sliwa insisted he would not withdraw, stating that he was the only "law and order" candidate in the mayoral race.
