SLIPKNOT Surprise-Releases New Single 'Arsenal'
The single arrived with a Shawn Crahan-directed video and marks Slipknot’s first release on its own label.
Slipknot surprise-released their new single "Arsenal" on Tuesday, premiering the track on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show With Jack Saunders as their first new output in more than three years.
The release marks the band's debut on their own est Records label, following significant lineup changes including the departure of longtime members Sid Wilson and Craig Jones and the addition of drummer Eloy Casagrande.
Frontman Corey Taylor describes the song as "pummelling," praising its "hyperactivity" and "sublime drop," while the track recalls early Mr. Bungle-influenced experimental material with chaotic arrangements and rap-sung lyrics.
Percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan directed the accompanying music video, which features actor Jackson White and provides the primary visual companion to the new single.
Earlier this year in April, the band released Look Outside Your Window, an experimental album recorded during chaotic 2008 studio sessions that Crahan noted split the lineup into unofficial factions.
