George Cheeks to Oversee Combined TV Studios in Skydance-Paramount-Warner Merger
The move expands his role to cover the combined company’s TV operations and cable brands as the Paramount-Warner Bros. Discovery deal nears closing.
- Paramount TV Media Chair George Cheeks will oversee Skydance's three television studios—Warner Bros. Television, CBS Studios, and Paramount Television Studios—when the merger closes next week on October 6.
- Skydance Media CEO David Ellison selected Cheeks to lead the consolidated arm, positioning him as the only executive from Paramount's former 'office of the CEO' trio to transition into the new company.
- Under this restructuring, Warner Bros. Television CEO Channing Dungey, Paramount Television Studios President Matt Thunell, and CBS Studios President David Stapf will retain their leadership roles while reporting directly to Cheeks.
- Dungey continues to manage a massive portfolio, as her Warner Bros. Television Group produces more than 80 original series for more than 20 platforms, including 'Ted Lasso' and 'Abbott Elementary'.
- Cheeks faces integration challenges and potential cuts across the studios, while Skydance must comply with a consent decree requiring separate cable package negotiations for Paramount and Warner Bros.
