Sky waive 2025 first-rounder G Hailey Van Lith
On Monday, the Chicago Sky waived second-year guard Hailey Van Lith and signed 10-year veteran guard Natasha Cloud ahead of Saturday's season opener against the Portland Fire.
Chicago General Manager Jeff Pagliocca attributed the decision to a 'style-of-play preference,' citing Van Lith's poor fit with the coaching staff despite averaging 3.5 points on 33.9% shooting in 29 games.
The Sky signed Cloud to a one-year deal worth $555,000; she averaged 10.1 points and 5.1 rebounds last season and is a three-time All-Defensive team member.
Van Lith's representatives are holding 'active conversations' with multiple teams before the May 7 roster deadline, with league expansion to 15 teams creating additional opportunities.
The Sky open their 2026 campaign Saturday in Portland seeking improvement from last season's 10-34 record, bolstered by offseason acquisitions including guard Skylar Diggins.
