Two dead in crash following attempted traffic stop north of Kingston, SIU investigating

The SIU assigned six investigators and a collision reconstructionist after a stolen vehicle crash left a man and woman dead, officials said.

  • On Monday, the Special Investigations Unit launched an investigation into the deaths of a man and woman following an Ontario Provincial Police pursuit in South Frontenac.
  • Frontenac Detachment officers responded to a suspicious vehicle report on Bedford Road on Sunday night; the male driver fled when approached, triggering a single-vehicle collision in a wooded area.
  • The vehicle was later determined to be stolen, and the driver and passenger were found dead after crashing near Salmon Lake Road, according to the SIU.
  • Bedford Road remains closed between Mason Lane and Lady Bush Lane as the investigation continues, and both individuals have yet to be identified by authorities.
  • The SIU assigned three investigators, two forensic investigators, and a collision reconstructionist to the case, while the OPP directed all inquiries to the independent watchdog.
