Inflation jumps to 5.4% in April

Sri Lanka’s inflation rose sharply in April 2026, with the overall rate, as measured by the Colombo Consumer Price Index (CCPI) on a year-on-year basis, increasing to 5.4% from 2.2% in March, according to the Department of Census and Statistics. Food inflation climbed to 2.8% in April, up from 0.7% in the previous month, while non-food inflation rose to 6.8% from 2.9% over the same period.

Colombo inflation increases to 5.4% in April
