Sicamous Sergeant Warns of 'Disturbing Details' Emerging in 2 Murder Trials
Sgt. Murray McNeil said the cases are exposing disturbing details, while driving complaints fell from 82 to 68 and impaired charges dropped to 11.
On Aug. 26, Sgt. Murray McNeil reported that murder trials involving Sicamous residents are underway in Kamloops court, warning the public that proceedings are revealing "disturbing details."
Proceedings concern the murder of Wayne Silvio, with Danny Silvio accused, and the 2024 death of Jo Ann Jackson, involving accused Scott McDonald. Both cases are expected to shock some observers.
McNeil also addressed staffing needs following the transfer of Const. Justin Borsa, a member of Alexa's Team who was "very committed" to removing impaired drivers from local roads.
To fill the resulting vacancy, the detachment is considering an experienced officer with seven years of experience from Haida Gwaii. If approved, the officer could arrive before Christmas.
Quarterly crime reports show decreased service calls and driving complaints, while excessive speed incidents dropped from 40 to just nine during the reporting period.
