A report surveying more than 2,000 UK consumers finds AI-powered tools are reshaping the customer journey, with 74% of users researching via LLMs before deciding on a specific brand or product.
Automation is gaining traction as nearly four in ten consumers are comfortable allowing AI-assisted commerce across three or more categories, reinforcing growing confidence in AI-powered shopping.
Validation remains critical, with 41% of users turning to YouTube and 35% to Instagram or TikTok to verify recommendations, as reviews and creators increasingly determine purchase conversion.
Fashion shoppers stand out, with AI-assisted womenswear journeys generating 30% higher spend; only 18% validate beyond AI-powered suggestions, prompting Dani Jordan, global CMO at Croud, to note shoppers "research with intention."
Trust must be earned beyond recommendations, as Rajiv Ragu, VP of growth at Thorne, noted success requires "building authoritative content," while Debbie Ellison, EMEA CEO at Croud, said AI-powered discovery changes brands but not trust itself.
