COPA is investigating after a man allegedly punched the officer, who then shot two men and was hospitalized, police said.

  • An off-duty Chicago police officer shot two men early Sunday in the Little Village neighborhood following a physical altercation around 12:48 a.m. in the 2600 block of West 24th Street.
  • The officer stopped his vehicle to "engaged with a group" on the sidewalk when a man allegedly punched him in the face, according to Chicago police. He then discharged his weapon, shooting the man twice.
  • Driving a short distance down the street, the officer exited his vehicle and discharged additional shots at the group. A second man arrived at Mount Sinai Hospital with an arm injury, reported in good condition.
