An employee of the Zaanstad prison was shot dead on a crowded Amsterdam terrace on Friday. The terrace is located on the NDSM Quay in Amsterdam North, close to the location where the ferry arrives and departs.

A shooting near the NDSM ferry dock along the wharf in Amsterdam-Noord left one person injured Friday afternoon. The violence took place on the crowded NDSM-Kade, which is flanked on one side by a cafe terrace, and by the IJ River quay on the other side.The victim was brought to an area hospital, and their condition has not been disclosed. Police told media outlet ANP that “both the suspect and the victim” were taken into custody
