- On Friday, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick released interim charges directing Texas Senate committees to study preventing 'Sharia law' and reducing property taxes ahead of the 90th Texas Legislature in January 2027.
- After Abbott directed investigations and criticized local schools, Attorney General Ken Paxton sued over EPIC City and Patrick pressed committees to examine Community Capital Partners.
- Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick announced "Operation Double Nickel", proposing to lower senior tax relief eligibility from 65 to 55 and raise the homestead exemption by $40,000.
- Tasking the Senate Business and Commerce Committee, Patrick ordered it to evaluate infrastructure vulnerabilities to hostile foreign entities including China, Russia and Iran, and the Senate Health and Human Services Committee to recommend ways to prevent Medicaid and child-care program fraud.
- With the 90th Texas Legislature set for January 2027, Patrick intends to release a full list of interim charges in March after senators submit recommendations by February 20, amid his reelection campaign.
