Shake Shack Worker Allegedly Robbed His Own Restaurant at Gunpoint, Then Returned to Work Days Later
Police say Keondre Simmons forced two coworkers into a cooler, stole about $2,800 and destroyed their phones before fleeing.
- On Wednesday, August 5, police arrested Keondre Simmons, 33, in the parking lot of the Shake Shack near Scottsdale and Greenway Road where he allegedly robbed two coworkers at gunpoint two days earlier.
- Simmons allegedly called out of work on August 3 before entering the Kierland Commons location through a rear delivery door armed with a semi-automatic handgun.
- The suspect forced two employees into a walk-in cooler, stole approximately $2,800 from the safe, and destroyed their cellphones and the office landline by throwing them into a water-filled sink.
- A judge set a $100,000 bond for Simmons, who faces charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault, and kidnapping pending trial.
- During an interview after his arrest, Simmons admitted he "discarded the clothing worn during the incident, and a firearm is inside his residence." He also said "he's having a tough time, and has kids," investigators wrote.
