For having blackmailed a deputy for nearly ten years by means of an intimate video, until he disappeared from political life, four politicians, including Saint-Etienne's mayor, Gaël Perdriau, appeared this week before the correctional court in Lyon. In her closing remarks, the prosecutor did not hide her "feeling sick".
For the prosecutor Audrey Quey, the mayor of Saint-Etienne, tried in Lyon, was "the decision maker" of the blackmail practiced against his former first deputy.
Three years in prison were required by the Public Prosecutor's Office against the mayor of Saint-Étienne in connection with the trial of the sextape case on Monday, September 29.
The respondent hopes that the court will "lave his honour".
Already excluded from the Republican party, Gaël Perdriau was tried with former relatives for blackmail, criminal association and embezzlement of public funds. He had announced on Friday that he would resign if he was convicted.
