According to the experts of the Swiss Re Institute, the long-term growth trend in the damage caused by natural disasters is intact despite a comparatively mild damage year 2025.

In 2025, insured losses on natural disasters other than exceptional events totalled less than $110 billion, below the long-term average. However, Swiss Re estimates in its risk report that this amount could easily be tripled in the event of a difficult year.
