Rookie LB Bud Clark Among 2 Major Injuries for Seahawks Against the Titans

Seattle’s second-round pick went down on the first defensive snap, and coach Mike Macdonald said the ankle injury will sideline him for months.

  • On Sunday, Seattle Seahawks rookie safety Bud Clark broke his right ankle during the 19-16 preseason loss to the Tennessee Titans. Head coach Mike Macdonald confirmed Clark will miss "multiple months" with the injury.
  • Drafted 64th overall out of Texas Christian University, the 24-year-old Clark was competing for a key secondary role. He received extended playing time Sunday as Macdonald rested all of Seattle's established starters on both sides of the ball.
  • Following a 9-yard run by Titans running back Tony Pollard, the injury occurred on the game's first defensive play. Trainers applied an air cast before carting Clark to the locker room.
  • Linebacker Connor O'Toole said the injury "almost takes the life out of a game," adding "your heart breaks for your brother." Players from both teams gathered around the rookie as he departed the field.
  • This loss compounds a difficult week for Seattle, which also saw offensive lineman Mason Richman and wide receiver Jake Bobo suffer injuries. Macdonald said, "We've had three heartbreakers this week, which is tough.
