Report: Seahawks Land Dante Fowler on 1-Year Deal
Fowler brings 58.5 career sacks to Seattle after Boye Mafe left in free agency, and he had 10.5 sacks for Washington in 2024.
On Tuesday, the Seattle Seahawks agreed to sign veteran edge rusher Dante Fowler Jr. to a one-year contract worth up to $5 million, addressing pass-rush depth following Boye Mafe's departure to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Fowler, the third overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft by Jacksonville, joins Seattle as his sixth team after recording 3.0 sacks in 17 games for the Dallas Cowboys last season.
Pro Football Focus graded the 31-year-old at 77.6, his highest mark in a 10-year career, after he generated 30 pressures, including three sacks, seven hits, and 20 hurries on 248 pass-rush snaps.
The signing bolsters Seattle's edge rotation alongside DeMarcus Lawrence, Uchenna Nwosu, and Derick Hall, bringing the Seahawks' roster to 91 players as president of football operations John Schneider had indicated.
Familiarity with defensive coordinator Aden Durde, who previously coached Fowler at Dallas and Atlanta, likely influenced the move as he joins an inexperienced group of second-year edge rushers.
