Lattice Parameter Emerges as Master Key to Magnetic States in Quasicrystal
Researchers at Tokyo University of Science and Tohoku University show that the lattice parameter, with sharply defined thresholds near 14.62 and 14.72 angstroms, accurately organizes the whirling antiferromagnetic, ferromagnetic, and spin-glass ground states of Tsai-type quasicrystal-related compounds where the conventional electron-per-atom ratio fails.
