Sceye and SoftBank Corp. Complete Stratospheric Connectivity Demonstration in Japan, Advancing Towards HAPS Commercialization

- On August 9, 2026, Sceye launched its ST1 mission from New Mexico, traveling more than 15,000 km across the Pacific to Japan in 13 days to verify High-Altitude Platform Systems broadband connectivity.
- This flight builds on Sceye's Endurance Program, completed earlier this year, when its SE2 HAPS traveled more than 10,000 km to Brazil; SoftBank Corp. invested in the company's stratospheric infrastructure in 2025.
- Equipped with SceyeCELL, a 'cell tower in the sky,' the platform operated at approximately 16.5 km altitude while demonstrating edge computing with over 40% latency reduction compared to cloud processing.
- Sceye and SoftBank demonstrated mobile broadband, voice calls, and emergency communications during the test, proving one HAPS covers the equivalent area of approximately 500 terrestrial towers.
