Attorney General Candidate Hospitalized Days Ahead of Runoff
Stumbo said doctors admitted him as a precaution after he woke up not feeling right, and he expects to be ready for Tuesday’s runoff.
South Carolina attorney general candidate and 8th Circuit Solicitor David Stumbo was hospitalized Saturday, just days before the Republican primary runoff against Sen. Stephen Goldfinch scheduled for Tuesday, June 23.
Stumbo faces Sen. Stephen Goldfinch in the GOP nomination runoff, with the winner advancing to face Richard Hricik in the November general election for South Carolina's top legal authority.
In a Facebook post Saturday, Stumbo wrote he was admitted to the hospital for safety, stating "I'm in good hands, in good spirits, and they are ensuring me I'll be at full strength for Tuesday."
The Post and Courier of Charleston endorsed Stumbo on Wednesday, calling him "the clear choice" in the GOP runoff as he emphasizes his prosecutorial credentials.
Stumbo told WCSC-TV on Thursday he has prosecuted hundreds of cases throughout his career, emphasizing his collaboration with "sheriffs and police chiefs, working with, working with Highway Patrol, working with DNR-- all of our law enforcement agencies.
