Lorne Michaels Confirms Fate of Saturday Night Live UK
Sky renewed the comedy series after 86 million social views and strong critical response, and season 2 will expand to 12 episodes.
Sky confirmed on Thursday that the comedy sketch show Saturday Night Live will return for an extended 12-episode second season beginning in autumn 2026.
Produced by Universal Television Alternative Studio and Broadway Video, the show maintains a budget of approximately $2.6 million per episode, a sum rarely seen in British sketch comedy.
While the series experienced fluctuating television ratings starting with a 226,000-viewer premiere, it has achieved viral success with over 86 million social media views across platforms.
Hannah Waddingham and Ncuti Gatwa have been announced as the final celebrity hosts, anchoring the first season's concluding episodes on May 9 and 16.
Despite initial skepticism regarding the U.S. format adaptation, the show has proven successful, with Phil Edgar-Jones OBE, Executive Director of Unscripted Originals at Sky, calling it 'Sky's most talked about show of the year.
